Payments Financial Optimization

What It Is

A review of the Merchant's current payments cost structure.  This review includes, but is not limited to:

  • Payment processing fees - is Merchant paying a bundled discount rate or a transaction fee plus Interchange pass-through?  Which is better?  RPGC has the financial models to help answer that question
  • Credit card transaction qualification ratios - are credit card transactions qualifying for the lowest possible Interchange fee? RPGC understands the qualification rules to help merchants improve their Interchange qualification
  • Chargeback and refunds ratios and policies - are these ratios acceptable and are they within the expected range? RPGC can use its market experience to guide merchants optimize these ratios

Process

This multi-day effort focuses on the Merchant's financial terms and conditions with external vendors and transaction processing characteristics.

Deliverable

RPGC Group will deliver a document summarizing recommendations to minimize the cost of payment processing.  At the Client's request, RPGC Group can manage the project(s) that leading from these recommendations, including, but not limited to:

  • Introducing changes to the credit card processing flow in order to minimize transaction costs, improve Interchange qualification, eliminate unnecessary refunds, minimize chargebacks, etc.
  • Define and document business requirements, identify potential vendors, run blind or open RFPs in order to select alternate providers
  • Negotiate new contracts or re-negotiate existing payment processing contracts to bring about lower fees
